This is my happy place.
It's a space that I have created for myself to be happy and be able to enjoy my career. One of the biggest things that makes it my happy space is being able to connect with beautiful women like YOU. Every day I open my salon doors and welcome strong, beautiful, and amazing women into my happy, creative space. I do this to help them feel every bit as strong & amazing as they are. I love creating amazing hair but that's not all it's about for me. It's also about YOU and creating an extra special space where it’s not only beautiful hair that you leave with. I have felt compelled to create an environment that whilst I will always be there providing amazing hair for all the good times, all the many wonderful milestones of life, but I am also there for when a shoulder is needed to cry on or you just need support and a good chat. I am really proud of my special happy place, it’s full of love and I feel so blessed to be able to have YOU to share it with. Me and my happy place welcome you always & will always be here for you, no matter what. My wish is for all the local and surrounding area women to know that there is a happy place that they can retreat to for a breather, a place that they can not only indulge in having beautiful hair but to be listened to, supported, and empowered.

Hey Beautiful,
I wanted to do a little update on what is happening in Little Bug with the Covid-19 Virus. Please remember that I am monitoring the situation closely and day by day. Firstly, I will be taking a few extra days off over Easter and reopening on the 17th of April. After that I will open however, I do have many restrictions on how I can operate to ensure the safety of my clients including: <3 Reducing my days down to three days a week. I will aim to keep this as Thursday-Saturday but in some cases, it may be other days <3 Limited to two people in my salon at one time. This includes me which restricts me to one client at a time. <3 Rescheduling any clients who have been overseas in the last 28 days or been in contact with anyone who has been overseas. <3 Rescheduling clients who come to their appointments sick. I am lucky and very grateful that I haven’t had to do this. <3 Sterilizing all equipment between each client <3 Disinfecting my stations and basin between each client <3 I am washing my hands after every single client, using the hand washing technique as set out by the WHO <3 I request contactless transactions where possible <3 I am checking in with my close family daily to ensure they are healthy and well and have not been in contact with anyone affected by Covid-19. <3 To ensure yours and my own safety I have completed Covid-19 Infection Control Training provided by the Australian Government Department of Health. On a happy note, I love that there is so much positivity in the world and how many wonderful people are doing what they can to help keep many small businesses open and functioning. To help all the beautiful women out there who want to feel good in these times I will now be accepting NEW LADIES COLOUR CLIENTS. Please send me a message to secure an appointment. AfterPay and ZipPay are available on all. Please remember that with the current restrictions in place appointments are limited so please message me via Facebook to make an appointment. <3 <3 2019 saw some big changes inside Little Bug Hair Design.
I welcomed many new and beautiful ladies in the salon and helped them feel amazing again. I had a big redo of the salon and added in a second styling station. I woke up every day loving my career and looking forward to a day of helping my clients feel beautiful! Now I am in 2020 where I have even bigger goals and dreams to achieve... My main goals is, as always, to help my clients feel beautiful. My hope is that all of my clients will continue to get that feeling when they are welcomed into my salon. So what is to come for Little Bug Hair Design? Well, one of my goals has always been to have a salon that is not only profitable and successful but also one that is environmentally friendly and sustainable. Up until now my salon hasn't been in the position to start doing more than basic recycling but this year I will slowly be taking a step in the right direction by implementing changes in my salon that will be environmentally friendly and reduce the impact my salon has on the world. Have you ever thought...

On the 30th of August 2018 I volunteered to help the ladies at Support the Girls at one of their events. They were in need of a hairdressers and I had a free day so I could help. Support The Girls is a registered Charity committed to empowering and supporting homeless and displaced women/girls with bras, sanitary items and give them the opportunity to rise with dignity and respect. It starts with a professionally fitted bra and compassion. Our focus is to help women find their purpose and support them through that journey. My journey with Support the Girls started when I was tagged on Facebook in one of their posts seeking hairdressers. I was more than happy to help out. So the morning of the 30th arrived and I woke up bright eyed and bushy tailed and ready to help those in need. The morning began with a lovely drive down to Burleigh Heads on the Gold Coast. On the way to the event I was full of nerves. I had never done anything like this so I was stepping outside of my comfort zone a little bit. However, I was also excited to step out of my comfort zone to help! And so I arrived at my destination. I walked in and met Jane Holmes, the founder of Support the Girls. Jane and her Director of Events, Leanne, helped me to set up and get ready for the day. All the other volunteers were so wonderful and welcoming, which helped to ease my own nerves a lot. And then it was time to start. The room had filled with many ladies, all of varying ages and in different stages in their lives. The one thing that bought them together was that they all had been through some hard times and were in need of some support and empowerment! And so our work began! The other ladies were busy with the bra fittings in over to help perk the ladies up. *pun intended* While they were busy myself and the other hairdresser (sorry I have forgotten her name) were busy giving the ladies a hair make over. Most of the ladies received basic tidy ups. However, there were two ladies that stood out and I am so glad I was able to help them. One lady has been so busy and focus on putting all of her money toward her children and grandchildren that she hadn't had a haircut in 17 years!! Yes you read that correctly. 17 years have gone by since this beautiful lady had had the wonderful feeling we all feel after a fresh haircut. As I cut her hair I could see the change in her. She sat up straighter and radiated happiness. The smile on her face and hug I received are more than enough to show how happy she was. The other lady that stood out to me sat down and confessed that she had only ever been able to afford going to what she felt were "cheap and under-skilled" hairdressers. Looking at her hair I could see exactly what she meant by "under-skilled." After some magic I had her looking and feeling amazing. And again, her smile said it all. After all the bras were fitted and haircuts were given all the ladies left with new found confidence and smiles. And I left feeling very proud of myself for taking a small amount of time out of my life to help these ladies. Jane and Leanne gave me hugs and many "thank you's" and I left knowing I had done something good and would be back to help in the future. Support the Girls is truly an amazing charity and I encourage you to have a look on their website and see if there is anyway you can help. Even if it is just to donate a bra or some sanitary items. Even the small things help. For more information on Support the Girls: https://www.supportthegirls.com.au/ I cannot wait to help again! Talk soon Little Bugs, Amy xx |
